Mission


To Promote the Highest Professional Standards of Oncology Nursing in the Greater Los Angeles area. To study, research, and exchange information, experiences, and ideas, leading to improved oncology nursing and to promote understanding of the specialty of oncology nursing.

Goals


    • Increse the number of chapter members in ONSTAT
    • Promote OCN/AOCN at all chapter events
    • Send information to mayor, congressmen
    • Plan programs based on chapter needs assessment, emerging treatment paradigm
    • Incorporate EBP into clinical scenarios
    • Utilize chapter website/newsletter as vehicles for non-attending chapter members, students
    • Use NCCN guidelines to promote NSPOs
    • Solicit member participation in Volunteer Advisory Committee
    • Encourage mentoring by more experienced chapter members, e.g. job shadow/publish Encourage student attendance at meetings
    • Interview role models in newsletter
    • Sponsor attendance of board / VAC member at Leadership weekend July 2007
    • Participate as a chapter team in Relay for Life/Ovarian Walk/ Susan K. Komen race for th Cure / Revlon Breast CA Walk
    • Set up booth at one event/distrubute info
    • Form chapter member speaker bureau
    • Send out member survey to query interest in alternatives for involvement, e.g. Speaker's Bureau, walk-team, partner with clinician to publish article, planning reunion event, presenting research at chapter meeting
    • Plan one chapter meeting centered on diversity and utilizing chapter expertise in diversity research/quality care issues
    • Distribute ONS position patper on diversity at chapter meeting
    • Trend evaluation comments from programs
    • Complete/analyze comments from memberssurvey; note interest in engaging in alternative involvement strategies, VAC
    • Monitor event attendance/ask "how are we doing?" during meetings
