PLEASE REMEMBER this award will only be given after you have completed all the requirements.  This is a reimbursement for expenses, tuition or registration fees.  No money will be reimbursed prior to completion of a course, conference, etc.

Up to $1200 for conferences


Up to $2000 for education which may be applied towards registration and/or related travel expenses, (receipts will be required).

Purpose: To recognize and support excellence for nursing contributions to GLAONS and/or patient care

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicant must be a registered nurse and be an active ONS and GLAONS member with at least 2 years in Oncology nursing.
  • Applicant must have made a significant contribution to one or more of the following (related to Oncology):  GLAONS Chapter activities, professional/patient education, clinical practice, and/or chapter research
  • Applicant serves as a role model for other nurses
  • Applicant cannot be a recipient of an educational scholarship from GLAONS within the last 2 years
  • Applicant must meet the additional criteria for judging of nomination:
    • GLAONS involvement: committee membership or task force participation
    • Articles written for GLAONS newsletter
    • Community Outreach in Oncology
    • Recruiting of new members to ONS/GLAONS, recruiting members to sign up for ONSTAT
    • Holding past offices
    • Future plans for contribution to GLAONS
      •  Professional/patient education related to sponsored program attendance,
      • Working on Chapter research project or committee
      • Specific educational interventions
      • Program Development
      • Community Outreach

If chosen to receive this scholarship, the recipient is expected to present to their experience to the other chapter members at a meeting and to write an article for the newsletter about their experience.
